7 Deadly Sins Of Beauty Tag

Hello Readers,

As you can probably tell from the title of this post, today I shall be doing a tag! I don't tend to do many on my blog for some reason but I quite enjoy doing them. So with that being said I had a look online and decided to do the 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty tag as it looked quite interesting. I believe it's quite an old one now so I'm sure many of you will have seen this go round before but as I hadn't done it yet I thought I might as well give it a go!

Greed
What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive one?

My most inexpensive beauty item is a pretty dull one but it is this MUA intense colour eyeliner in the shade Jet Black. It's honestly such a good eyeliner, it goes on so creamy and is really pigmented. Also, the lid doubles as a sharpener which is so incredibly handy! This was only £1 so it's such a bargain.

My most expensive beauty item to date is my Urban Decay Naked 1 palette. I bought this quite a while ago now whilst on the plane back from Alcudia. I believe the palette is £37 however as I was using my leftover Euros I roughly paid about 45 euros for it. (I think) So despite it being quite a splurge it was definitely worth it - since picking this up I've used it countless times and find it to be a really diverse palette. You can create so many looks out of the shades provided and they're really good quality shadows - super pigmented and really easy to blend!

Wrath
What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?

The beauty product I have a love / hate relationship with, has to be the Max Factor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint. I've got shade 04 and I absolutely love the colour of it - it's such a beautiful red wine shade. However, the lasting power of this is really pathetic which is why I dislike it. After a little while it goes quite patchy and sort of flakes a little bit and then before you know it, it's completely worn off. I love the colour but this is a high maintenance lip product with constant touch ups necessary!

The product I found hardest to get was actually the Sleek Blush By 3 palette in Lace. Everytime I went into Superdrug to pick it up, they never had it in stock. They don't stock Sleek in the Superdrug in my town so I had to keep looking for it whenever I was in Nottingham or if I was in Leicester and it was always sold out! Luckily enough for me my boyfriend's sister, was able to grab this for me and gave it to me as a Christmas present. I was very happy to finally get this trio as it was on my beauty wishlist for so long. The colours are so beautiful and are crazily pigmented - such good value for money!

Gluttony
What are your most delicious beauty products?

One of my most delicious beauty products is this Rimmel London Sweet Jelly Sheer Lipgloss in the shade 060 Delicious (ironic I know) As far as lipgloss goes, it's alright - they all seem the same to me so I wouldn't really know the difference from a good one and a bad one. However this smells and tastes SO nice - every time I wear it I pretty much just eat it off straight away.

I couldn't choose just one product for this so I also wanted to include this Flava Craze Chapstick in Watermelon Splash. Again as far as chapsticks go this is an alright product, nothing amazing but there's really nothing I could complain about either. It leaves a slight red / pink tint to the lips so it's perfect if you're just wanting to add a nice subtle hue and moisturise your lips at the same time. Plus, it smells absolutely incredible! Perfect summer lip balm.

Sloth
What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

I will admit hand on heart that I neglect all of my cream / liquid blushers due to sheer laziness. They're just so much effort to put on! I always feel like I put too much on and therefore spend even longer trying to blend it in. I'd much rather just stick with powder blushes, easy to blend and less scary looking!

Pride
What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

I know most girls will say foundation or concealer but for me I think it honestly has to me mascara. My eyes are quite small and I really need mascara to help open them up more and make them look that little bit bigger. I really don't know what it is but mascara just ties a look together and without it I think I look rather strange!

 Lust
What attributes do you find the most attractive in the opposite sex?

Hair, smile and dress sense are probably the things I'd say in terms of physical attributes. Overall though they need to be caring, supportive, honest and they must be able to hold a conversation with me. There's nothing more off putting than a guy who just doesn't seem to be able to make conversation with me.

Envy
What items would you most like to receive as a gift?

Oh this is a really tricky one as there's always something on my wishlist! I think I have to say pretty much any make up product from theBalm as they have the most incredible packaging and such quirky little product names.

That's all for this post. I know it's quite an old tag now so I imagine quite a few of my followers will have done it but if you haven't and decide to do it then I'd love to see some of your responses! So I tag anyone who fancies giving it a go!

I hope you're all well.

Empties #1

Hello Readers,

It's been a while since my last post so apologies for that. I've been suffering from a bit of writers block recently and had no idea what to do a post on. However I was looking around my flat this evening when I realised that I have a fair few empty products laying around. I've never done an empties post before so I hope this is some what interesting for you all to read.

First up is the L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Shampoo and Conditioner. I recently dyed my hair a few weeks back and have been using these since. I only used a semi - permanent hair dye and I'd say this combination definitely helped my hair colour last longer. I normally find that all hair dyes seem to fade on me within 2 weeks max, but by using these I've managed to keep my hair colour quite dark for just over a month. I really like these for maintaining hair colour, however I'm not sure if I would repurchase as I really need to buy shampoos that will help control my extremely frizzy and wavy hair. So if anyone could recommend some shampoos for me that would be great!

Next is this Boots Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz. I've had this product for months and have only just finished it. I use this product twice a day, once after I've exfoliated In the morning, and at night after I've took off my make-up and cleansed my skin. I really enjoy using this product and I feel like it really does freshen my skin and cleanse any remaining impurities. I would definitely repurchase this again. I featured this product in my skincare routine post which you can see here.

Next up is this Simple Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper - phew! What a mouthful. I talk about this product quite frequently on my blog. I've gone through many tubes of this. It helps to gradually get rid of my blemishes without trying out my skin or irritating it. Simple is a great brand and I highly recommend them.

Next up is something that's quite dull however I thought I'd feature it anyway. I finished this pack of 100% Pure Cotton Wool pads. Again, I go through loads of packets of cotton wool and will continue to purchase packets of it as they're handy to use when taking off your makeup.

Finally the last item I have to feature in my empties is this pack of Osiris Deep Cleansing facial wipes. I picked up 3 packs of these wipes for a £1 in Asda, a month or so back when I was picking up bits and bobs for my holiday to Zante. I've never heard of this brand before and if I'm honest, I don't know anything about them still. I don't think I'll be buying these wipes again however as I feel like they have irritated my skin. Although I'm not 100% sure, I do think these wipes may have been the culprit.

That's all for my first Empties post. I hope this has been somewhat interesting for you!

I hope you're all well.

Paige.

Origins Super Spot Remover Review.

Hello Readers,

It's finally October! As some of you may know, October is National Blogging month, otherwise known as "Blogtober". Blogtober is a challenge in which a blogger has to try and post everyday in the month of October. (Pretty self explanatory, I know) I have decided to try and attempt this challenge although I really don't know if I'll do it haha. For my first Blogtober post I will be doing a review of the Origins Super Spot Remover.

I've had this product since March so I've been using it long enough to have formed an opinion on it. I'm not really a skincare person at all so I don't tend to experiment much with products. Prior to picking this up I had never tried a Origins product before, I knew of the brand but never bothered to look at any of the stuff they did. I hadn't even heard of this product until one evening when I was watching a video from Youtuber DollyBowBow and she recommended this product for dealing with spots. I was having a bit of a bad time with my skin and thought I would pick it up. This tiny little bottle retails for an eye watering £14. I was in 2 minds whether or not to purchase this as £14 is a lot of money for such a tiny little bottle. However I decided if I should splurge on something, surely it should be skincare.

*Sorry for how dirty the packaging is, it was in my make-up bag previously*

This is Origins Description for their Super Spot Remover;
Red PMS blemish? Bad joke breakout? Heal, fight and fade it fast. Just dab on a dot and feel blemish-busting Salicylic Acid instantly help speed healing while anti-spot technology helps visibly correct post blemish darkening. Skin-calming Caffeine and Red Algae help visibly relieve irritating redness. And to help keep skin looking spotless, super exfoliators eliminate excess oils and pore-clogging debris.

First let me start of by saying that you get 10ml of product within the bottle and surprisingly it does last a long time. Like I said, I picked this up in March of this year, we're now in October and I'm just over half way so that's quite impressive. You don't need to put much of this on at all as a little goes a long way with this one, which is just as well considering the tiny sized bottle.

This is a gel treatment so after dabbing a bit of this on a blemish it will harden within 5 minutes and begin to dry out the imperfection. I personally found that on certain blemishes, in particular spots that were quite big or angry looking, they did tend to sting after I had applied this product. The stinging would only last for a few moments and stopped after the gel had began to harden. I'm not sure if everyone who has used this product has experienced this, I've read a few reviews where people have mentioned nothing about it and others where they have stated that they also experienced the same slight stinging sensation. This product has quite a strong scent to it which at best can be described as a sort of medical scent. It was quite overwhelming at first however the more you use it, the more you become accustomed to the scent and now it doesn't faze me whatsoever.

Despite the occasional slight pain, the product does do what it's meant to do so in that sense I don't mind it too much. This product drastically reduces a spot in size and also reduces the redness of a spot very quickly. However I try to only use this when I have quite severe spots which prove to be stubborn, sore or big as I feel it's a bit harsh to use on a regular basis and on tiny little blemishes which will easily go away within a day or so.

I personally have found that if I apply too much of this for too long the Salicylic Acid in it actually causes my skin to peel. Salicylic Acid is a chemical which is used for a number of different skin conditions including psoriasis, warts etc. It's used as it softens the outside layer of the skin therefore allowing it to shed and peel. So I'd advise you to be very careful with this product as for me the peeling skin was more horrific than the spots I was trying to get rid of. The skin that peeled off took about a week to heal and during that time It upset me quite a lot as there was nothing I could do to hide it or make it look a little less obvious. If I covered it with makeup, halfway through the day it would look absolutely horrendous as my makeup was peeling off too. So for me that side effect of the product really got me down, however I have learnt my lesson and am now more responsible with how much of this product I apply and how often.

I personally found it to be quite a powerful spot remover and therefore I believe it's too harsh to use on a regular basis. I now use another spot treatment to treat any slight blemishes I have and only ever use the Origins one on spots that are quite stubborn or large, like I said earlier on in my post.

I hope this review has been somewhat useful to any of you who are looking into picking this product up. Have you used this product? What do you think of it?
Let me know in the comments as I'd love to hear some other opinions of this product!

I hope you're all well.

Paige.

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

Hello Readers.

Today I will be doing a review of Rimmel London's New Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara. I don't often review mascaras as I personally feel like they all seem to do the same thing however as this is a fairly new product I thought that maybe it might be worth doing a review on. I picked this mascara up last week and have been using it for a few days now so I feel ready to discuss how I've got on with it.

This mascara is advertised as being able to create bold lashes and wide eyed volume. It also claims to create a false lash effect without clumps. I'd have to say that in terms of volume it's a bit of a let down. In the products defence though, I did not curl my lashes before using this product due to the fact that I am terrified of lash curlers and refuse to use them. So this could potentially be a good product if you curl your lashes in advance. It terms of lengthening it's quite good, it definitely helps to elongate my sad little stubby eyelashes and make them look a bit more feminine and pretty. In terms of clumps, it's not a bad mascara either. I mean if you whack on enough coats of any mascara you will end up inevitably with a few clumps here and there. The hour glass shaped brush helps to coat every lash evenly and stop them from becoming too clumpy and stuck together, thus avoiding the dreaded spider legs look. This mascara does make my lashes look very bold in comparison to their natural state and does fan my eyelashes out quite nicely which is something that I really like about this product.

In terms of packaging, I really like it. The packaging has a classic 60's monochrome look which is something that I love. It looks very sleek and clean and just very pretty in general. The chunky shaped tube helps to make this quite a stand out product and also makes it easier to find when you're rummaging around in your makeup bag, trying to get ready in the morning.

So overall it's not a bad mascara by any means. I've seen some reviews where people seem to have had no problems in terms of volume. So I guess it really does depend on your way of application and the state of your lashes to begin with. My lashes are tragically stubby and no mascara ever works wonders in terms of volume. I do however like how bold and intensely black this mascara is, in that sense it really does achieve the retro 60's vibe that it's aimed at re-creating.

This mascara retails for about £6.99 and is available at both Boots and Superdrug.

That's all for this review, I hope you find this somewhat interesting or maybe even helpful.
If you've used this mascara, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I hope you're all well.

Paige.

Products I Regret Buying #1 - MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be doing the first post in a series called "Products I Regret Buying". I decided to start doing a few of these posts as there's a fair few products I have that I really regret picking up and I thought this could be potentially useful for anyone who's interested in picking up these products themselves and may want to hear the potential cons that they experience with said product.

The product I will be talking about today is MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer.
I don't really have a great deal of MAC makeup so this is the only MAC product that I've been disappointed by. Well the only product that I've been disappointed by that I still have. I was also let down by the MAC Zoom Lash Mascara but that's a different story so I won't go into that! Before I get started I'd just like to say that these are my honest opinions of this product, these are things which I have experienced and not enjoyed. If this product works for you then that's good, but unfortunately it didn't work for me so please don't be offended if you happen to love this product.

I picked this product up on a whim whilst in America 2 years ago. I went into the store and felt pretty overwhelmed by everything so when I was approached by one of the girls who worked in there I sort of blurted out that I wanted a concealer. I somehow ended up being convinced to purchase this one and it wasn't until I got back in the UK that I realised how much of a bad purchase this was. I think this cost me about $18, I'm not sure how much it is here so you'd have to check that yourself. I was matched up to the shade NC20 which as I said, I didn't even question until I was back in the UK.

First of all, the most disappointing thing about this product is the colour I was matched up to. This is far too dark for me and I have no idea what the girl was thinking matching me to this shade. I caught no colour whatsoever on my face whilst I was out in America so I don't see how I was possibly matched up with this colour. I am an incredibly pale person, think porcelain. In fact my foundation colour is light porcelain!
Below I've included shots of my foundation which is the correct shade for my skintone, right next to the concealer so you can see just how crazy the comparison in the 2 shades actually is.

This product is far too dark for me and there is no way on earth I could possibly get this to work for me unless I was to begin tanning but I don't do that so this is effectively useless and a waste of money! Aside from the product being the completely wrong shade, I also find the packaging to be really ill thought out. MAC did create this product with a pump however you have absolutely no control over how much product this pump squirts out and it always squeezes out too much product so you end up with far too much concealer for one person to use. Sometimes if you're extremely careful you can squeeze out just the right amount however majority of the time it just squirts out far too much product. Another design fault with the pump is that because it squirts out too much product you always get an excess of concealer just on the opening of the pump which then manages to smear all around the pump and on the inside of the lid so the packaging looks incredibly messy.

I find this concealer to be quite liquidy and it's very easy to blend HOWEVER if you are the type of person who applies blobs of concealer on all your flaws, dark circles, red areas of skin and then blends, you will have problems with this concealer as despite being a very liquidy formulation it dries extremely fast! For example, if I put a blob of this under each eye and then went on to apply blobs of it over some imperfections, when it came to blending the concealer under my eyes it would have began to have dried and then it became really hard to blend. By the time I moved on to blending the concealer that was on any spots or red areas, it would have dried completely and would not budge.

Another thing I don't like about this product is that I just don't think it provides that great a coverage, especially underneath my eyes. As it's quite liquid based, I find that it goes on quite sheer and light so it really doesn't cover up a lot of the darkness underneath my eyes. I also find that this unfortunately seems to crease underneath my eyes quite badly. Not as bad as the Sleek Concealer and Corrector Palette which I have previously reviewed on my blog, however it still collects in the slight lines I have underneath my eyes and that's not something I expect from a brand that is quite expensive and is considered more high end.

Overall I just really did not like this product and will definitely not be repurchasing this. So far I'm yet to find a concealer that will rival the infamous Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer which I have used religiously since I was about 15 years old.

That's all for todays post, I hope you enjoyed.

Let me know what your thoughts on this product are, does it work for you? Or do you find yourself in agreement with my opinions? I'd love to hear!

Hope you're all well.

Paige.

Naked Basics Palette Review.

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm going to be reviewing the Naked Basics Palette from Urban Decay. Now I know I'm a bit late to jump on the band wagon with this product, but I've had it for quite a few months and I've only just decided to review it. When reading reviews or watching youtube videos of people talking about this product I've noticed quite a lot of them saying that they weren't overly excited about purchasing this product until they began using it. Some even said they'd put off buying it for ages because it didn't seem like anything special.

When I first found out about Urban Decay launching a 3rd Naked Palette, I was over the moon. I only had the first one at that point so I couldn't wait to get my hands on another one! This palette retails for £20 which I think is quite reasonable. This palette contains 6 eye shadows, 5 of them are matte, and one has a slight shimmer to it. These shadows are all neutral shades, as you would expect.

This photo above shows all of the eye shadows from the palette. From left to right there's:
Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint and Crave.
Venus is the shimmery white shade. Foxy is a creamy, yellow shade. Walk of Shame is a beige / pink colour. Naked 2 is a light beige brown colour. Faint is a chocolate shade and crave is a very dark black colour.

All of these shades are incredibly pigmented, particularly Crave which has an amazing colour pay off! I normally find most black eye shadows quite disappointing but this one does not let me down!

The colours in this palette are great for creating a nice smokey eye look and the variety of shades allow you to go from a day look to a night look very easily. I've used this palette multiple times when creating a smokey eye as the shades are all so great!

The packaging of this product is a nice sleek, rubbery plastic box with "Naked Basics" embossed on it in a nice grey / metallic shade. The palette is very small and compact, so is therefore great for when you're travelling. I found that the original Naked Palette is quite big and can therefore be quite challenging trying to travel with or even store. So this size is really quite convenient! It also contains a mirror in the compact so this also comes in handy when trying to apply makeup on the go!

I definitely would recommend this palette 100% to anyone who is interested! It's got all the shades you need and can easily double as a brow kit also. Definitely worth £20!

Does anyone else in the blogging world have this problem? You take out a product to start photographing it and then moments later your cat decides to go to sleep on top of it? Little devil that he is!

That's all for this post! I hope you enjoyed it.
Have you used this product? What do you think of it?

Paige.

My MAC Lipstick Collection.

Hello Readers!

Today's post will be my MAC lipstick collection. Now, before I start this please take note that I do not have many at all. I have 4 lipsticks, and would like to add more to my collection in the future however as for now I am happy with the amount I have. I really don't have the money to be spending £14 on a single lipstick, especially when you can get something equally as good on the high street. But that being said, I do like the occasional high end splurge!

Now my first ever MAC lipstick was Please Me. I purchased this whilst I was on holiday in America. It was my first time inside a MAC store, and I was rather overwhelmed at the whole experience, so when the lady who served me asked me what I wanted I blurted out "a nice pink lipstick". I have no idea why I asked for a pink lipstick, as I really don't like the colour pink on me very much. I feel like as a brunette I can't really pull it off.

Please Me is a matte pink shade. I'd say it's a very mid toned pink which has a lovely vanilla scent to it. It's a bold colour without being too vibrant at the same time, if that makes any sense. As this is a matte lipstick I tend to find it quite drying sometimes, and it can also stick to any dry bits of skin on my lips which isn't a good look. Despite not being a massive fan of pink on myself, I do wear it every now and again as it is a nice colour.

I've had this lipstick since 2011 and it really hasn't had much use at all, so despite being a nice colour, I don't think I'll be repurchasing this one again.
If any of you like this colour but don't want to spend the money, I recommend Revlon's Pink Pout lipstick, which I also own! It's pretty much the exact dupe of this product for about £10 less!

My second MAC lipstick was Myth. Myth is a satin finish, which means it has a really creamy texture with minimal shine to it. Myth is flesh toned, pale nude colour which definitely is not for everyone as it can have the tendency to look a little bit concealer lips on some skin tones. I personally love Myth and I hail it as being the perfect nude for my skin tone. I occasionally wear it during the day, but I mostly wear it on nights out as it looks great with a smokey eye and some nude gloss on top.

The only downside to this product is that sometimes it can look a little bit cakey on the lips and it has the tendency to occasionally stick to dry patches of skin on my lips. However I love this colour too much so I'm willing to over look that.

As you can see from the image I've included above, Myth has definitely been used multiple times and I hadn't realised the extent of how much it'd been used until I took pictures for my blog today! It looks like I may have to look into buying a back up some time soon. This is definitely a lipstick that I will repurchase time and time again, no matter how much it costs!

Russian Red was my 3rd MAC Lipstick and was kindly bought for me by my boyfriend so thank you very much to him! Russian Red is a matte lipstick, so some of you may find this slightly drying. Russian Red is a really in your face, blue toned red so this is not one for the faint hearted. The blue tones in this lipstick help to make it really bright and also help make your teeth look whiter which is always a bonus! As this lipstick is so pigmented, application can be a bit tricky, as you can see from my photo above (oops). Whenever I want a bright red lip, this is the lipstick I go to as it's such a stunning colour and always attracts attention.

I haven't used it a great deal yet as I felt like it didn't suit me when I went through a stage of having blonde hair, however now I am a brunette again it'll be getting plenty of use!

I will be repurchasing this lipstick again in the future.

Now as you would have saw in my last post, Coral Bliss is my newest lipstick. Today was my first day of wearing it, so I haven't fully yet formed an opinion on this product, so please bare that in mind! Coral Bliss is my first cremesheen lipstick, and I must admit I'm quite a fan of this formula. Cremesheen lipsticks go on really sheer and glossy, so the colour of the lipstick is never exactly what you get on your lips. I love this colour as it's a nice subtle peachy colour which is really pretty and very fitting for the spring / summer months. I thought this went with my pale complexion rather nicely so for those of you are pale like me and wanting a nice peachy lipstick then I highly recommend this one! It lasted rather well on my lips also and only required 2 touch-ups through out the day which I was quite surprised about!

That's it for my MAC lipstick collection, I hope you enjoyed! Hopefully I'll be adding a few more to my collection in the future.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? What MAC lipsticks would you recommend?
Let me know!

Paige.
